The Grammy-nominated and ASCAP award-winning original soundtrack to the first film in the Jason Bourne film series, "The Bourne Identity" , is being re-released on LP to mark the 20th anniversary of the film.

The soundtrack to "The Bourne Identity" was composed by John Powell. Powell was hired to replace Carter Burwell, who had composed and recorded a more traditional orchestral score for the film, but was rejected by director Doug Liman. As a large part of the music budget had been spent on recording the rejected score, Powell's score was initially conceived without an orchestra and made extensive use of drums, guitars, electronics and studio equipment. Later, however, a string section was added to many of the pieces to give them a "cinematic" quality.
