In 1994, Whitney Houston took the stage for a series of three concerts in South Africa, making her the first major Western artist to perform in the newly reunited post-apartheid nation following President Nelson Mandela's historic election victory.
The three shows, which attracted more than 200,000 people, were more than just concerts; they were a celebration of freedom, hope and community. Whitney's powerful voice and emotional performance brought joy and inspiration to a country that had just been liberated.
Now, live recordings from the Durban concert are being released on a new live album, including live versions of Whitney's greatest hits, ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)’, ‘How Will I Know’, ‘I Have Nothing’, ‘Greatest Love of All’, ‘I Will Always Love You’ and other classics. The live album also includes the previously unreleased song ‘Love Is’.
